Walking Holidays

We are in one of the best places in the French Alps for dramatic mountain walking holidays. You can step out of the door and be on a path in minutes. Forest trails lead to the crests and ridges of the Grandes Rousses on your door step. In July and August you can access the lifts to 2800m where you can start your walk in the harsh but beautiful, high mountain landscape.

Rocky terrain is easy

The rocky terrain, which has rare and unusual plants that flourish in the short alpine summer, is easy to navigate. The paths are well but discretely signposted at major junctions with distances and estimated times. The paths are usually very easy to see as the landscape is mostly untouched by humans.

Forest and streams

Everywhere there is water; streams run down the mountains and cascade into waterfalls. On walking holidays you will see lakes high up on small plateaus; some are the remnants of ancient glaciers. Some are just below the glaciers that still exist.

Lower down, the slopes are covered with lush forest and shady trails. These lead to surprising and astonishing waterfalls and views. A remote chalet will be hidden in a small clearing, firewood stacked by the outer walls. This provides insulation and fuel for the chilly nights at altitude.
You can also try the various via ferrata for an experience of mountain climbing without the risk.
